What is Education?

Education means the development of character. It is a Latin word. The importance of education is a concern with values according to
Dr. Radhakrishnan Commission. The Kothari Commission emphasizes education for national development, cultivation of right interests, attitudes, moral  and intellectual values. 

It is the business of education to do the meaning of life . Then proper value orientation of education is more important. The teachers as a whole as the executive agent of education have a definite decisive role to be played in value transformation. This all can agree. On this context, the educator's personal committment to values is very important if education is to be value oriented.
