Girls attain puberty nowadays at the age of 11 or 12. In olden days, the girls reached ‘menarche’ a little bit late, say 13 or 14. But this has been advanced now due to so many factors. Personal, biological and environmental factors are responsible for this advancement. However, the facing of menarche, i.e. onset of first menstruation is a challenging one for any girl. The first experience is always thrilling and exciting besides creating confusion and emotional. As it happens suddenly, she has to be educated on that. Definitely she needs proper scientific information on menarche and the adult should guide her properly. Advance information is a must to face the situation and will definitely ease the situation and consoles the girl. How many parents rather adults give right information at right time is a question. It is where the sexuality education comes in handy to provide sufficient knowledge and information and clarifies so many issues that the girl may likely to face in future in her life.
