Sex Vs Sexuality – 2

Soon after my publication of the previous post I started receiving a few phone calls from the visitors over the subject.

One caller told me, “Sir, your way of dealing the subject is excellent. But in the post last published, you confused me a little bit on the explanation of ‘sex’. Will you please make it easier for persons like me”.

While thanking the caller I replied, “ I understand that some words such as ‘manliness’, ‘feminineness’ etc., might have created confusion. Anyhow I shall make it easier to you”.

As I understand that some illustrations would be helpful in making the view clear and meaningful, this post has emerged.

I shall give you an example to clarify psychological reactions associated with ‘maleness & femaleness’ and determines behavioural responses’. Take the example of ‘dressing’ of male and female. In our society for that matter in any society males generally wear pants and shirts. By just looking at this dressing pattern one psychologically recognizes that he is a ‘male’ associated with maleness. Naturally he exhibits manliness behaviour. In the case of a female, she wears sari/churidar/skirt type of dresses. These types of dresses clearly indicate the femaleness associated with feminineness behaviour. But we are sure that a male do not wear sari/churidhar/skirt. So psychologically the reactions associated with maleness determines the behavioural responses. But there are exceptions in the case of female dresses. Now a day a female wears jeans/pant-shirt in some societies. Leave alone these exceptions there are definite customized pattern of dressing code in every society.

This simple illustration clears the statement ‘Sexuality implies psychological reactions associated with ‘maleness & femaleness’ and determines behavioural responses’.
